Ruth Aldridge-Bias ISTD DDE

School Principal

Miss Ruth began her dance journey at just 4 years old with MHSOD. She studied at the school for many years and completed her ISTD examinations from Primary - Advanced 2 in both Modern Theatre and Tap genres. Miss Ruth is a teaching member of the Imperial Society Of Teachers of Dancing ( ISTD ). She graduated from Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts with a Diploma in Dance in 2005. Miss Ruth has performed in various professional productions at The Grand Theatre, competed in many dance festivals throughout the UK and performed at the All England Dance Finals.

Miss Ruth has taught at the school for over 10 years and trained pupils from primary to Advanced 2 in ballet, modern and tap genres, as well as choreographing for various dance shows, competitions and musical theatre productions. She is also a fully qualified Progressing Ballet technique and Acrobatic Arts instructor.

Elisabeth Evans RAD RTS ISTD DDE

School Principal

Miss Lizzie began dancing at the age of 5 and started her journey with MHSOD at the age of 14. Miss Lizzie is a Registered Teacher of the Royal Academy Of Dance ( RAD ) having graduated in Ballet Teaching Studies in 2017. Lizzie is a teaching member of the Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dancing ( ISTD ). She is also a fully qualified Acrobatic Arts and Progressing Ballet Technique instructor. Some of her performance experiences include, performing in front of the Royal Family with Darcey Bussell at the Queen's 90th Birthday Celebrations, performing in various dance festivals throughout the UK and performing with West End stars including Kerry Ellis and Ramin Karimloo. Lizzie was fortunate to study performing arts with Christopher Key for two years, the current Associate director of School of Rock ( London & Australia) and the resident director of Les Miserable ( London, UK/European tour ) 

Miss Lizzie taught GCSE dance in a secondary school setting for 5 years where she developed the dance department achieving outstanding results which were recognised by OFSTED. A number of her GCSE students are currently studying dance in nationally acclaimed dance schools in the UK. She also continues to deliver SEN dance sessions to students across the midlands, which she thoroughly enjoys. 

Miss Lizzie & Miss Ruth have a passion for dance, teaching and inspiring future generations of dancers to reach their full potential.

Emma Smith ISTD DDE

Dance Teacher 

Miss Emma started dancing at the age of 3 firstly studying ballet and later tap and modern. She has completed her ISTD exams from Primary to Advanced 2 Modern and Tap, and RAD Primary to Intermediate Classical Ballet. She also started at the Italia Conti associate school in Guildford working on all aspects of musical theatre which lead her to audition for and gain a place at the Italia Conti Acadeny of Theatre Arts London graduating with a Diploma in Performing Arts. She also has LAMDA acting exams and singing exams up to Grade 8. 


Miss Emma has appeared in a number of television shows including BBC Casualty and Mistresses. She also worked on Dr Dolittle the musical with Philip Schofield.


Miss Emma's love of dance led her to gain her DDI and DDE teaching qualifications in ISTD Modern and Tap so she could share that passion with others. She has taught for over 10 years around South East and South West London teaching all aspects of dance and musical theatre to children aged 18 months up to adult and has entered many students for exams with a 100% pass rate. 


Miss Emma is very excited to be joining the team at Marylin Harris School of Dance and cant wait to help launch their newest class Little Dancer and Me.

Eve Beards

Assistant Teacher

Miss Eve enrolled at MHSOD at just 3 years old. She has studied ISTD Modern Theatre, RAD Ballet and ISTD Tap reaching vocational standard and continues to build and develop her dancing and qualifications under guidance from Miss Lizzie & Miss Ruth.

Miss Eve has supported our Saturday students for many years and is well loved by our younger generation of dancers. She often delivers intervention for those students requiring support and assists with choreography and examination preparation. She holds a fully enhanced DBS and first aid training certificate. 

Miss Eve was selected by senior leadership at the Wolverhampton Grammar school to represent the school as their Dance Ambassador. She also recently represented MHSOD at The Birmingham Hippodrome.
